Graptoveria ‘Silver Star’ is a stunning hybrid succulent, known for its symmetrical rosette form and silvery-green leaves that shimmer beautifully in sunlight. It’s a cross between Graptopetalum and Echeveria species — combining the hardiness of Graptopetalum with the elegance of Echeveria.
🌿 Appearance
· Rosette shape: Compact and geometric, usually growing up to 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) in diameter.
· Leaves: Pointed, thick, and fleshy with a silvery-blue to pale green color. Under bright sunlight or cooler temperatures, the tips may blush pink or lavender.
· Texture: Smooth, sometimes with a slight powdery coating (farina) that gives it a frosted look.
🌞 Light Requirements
· Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or morning sun with afternoon shade.
· Can tolerate full sun, which enhances the silvery and pink tones — but protect from intense midday heat to avoid sunburn.
· Indoors, place near a south- or east-facing window.
💧 Watering
· Follow the “soak and dry” method — water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry.
· Avoid overwatering; soggy soil can lead to root rot.
· In winter, reduce watering frequency since the plant enters a resting phase.
🌱 Soil
· Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
· For better drainage, you can amend with perlite, pumice, or coarse sand.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
· Ideal temperature range: 18–27°C (65–80°F).
· Can tolerate cooler temperatures down to around 5°C (41°F), but protect from frost.
· Prefers dry conditions — avoid high humidity environments.
🌸 Flowers
· Produces small star-shaped flowers, usually yellowish or pinkish in color, on tall stalks during spring or early summer.
· The blooms attract pollinators like bees.
🌿 Propagation
· Very easy to propagate from leaf cuttings or offsets (pups).
· Allow leaf cuttings to callus for a day or two before placing them on dry soil.
