Mini Echeveria succulents are small, rosette-forming plants belonging to the Echeveria genus — a group of popular succulents. They’re loved for their compact size, vibrant colors, and ease of care.

🌱 Basic Overview

  • Scientific genus: Echeveria
  • Family: Crassulaceae (same family as jade plants)
  • Common names: Mini Echeveria, miniature succulent, rosette succulent
  • Size: Usually under 3 inches (7–8 cm) wide — ideal for small pots, terrariums, or arrangements.

🌸 Appearance

  • Shape: Rosette-like (similar to a flower or lotus).
  • Leaves: Fleshy, often with pointed tips.
  • Colors: Vary from green and blue-gray to pink, purple, red, or even variegated tones depending on light and stress.
  • Texture: Some varieties have a powdery coating (called farina) or tiny hairs that protect them from the sun.

🌞 Care Requirements

1. Light:

  • Bright indirect light to full sun.
  • Indoor: Place near a sunny window.
  • Outdoor: Avoid harsh midday sun for minis, as they can scorch.

2. Water:

  • Follow the “soak and dry” method — water deeply, then let the soil dry completely before watering again.
  • Overwatering is the main cause of death.

3. Soil:

  • Use well-draining cactus or succulent mix. You can add perlite or pumice for better drainage.

4. Temperature:

  • Prefers 65–80°F (18–27°C).
  • Not frost-tolerant — bring indoors if below 50°F (10°C).

5. Fertilizer:

  • Light feeding once or twice a year during spring or summer with diluted succulent fertilizer.

🌼 Propagation

Mini Echeverias can be easily propagated from:

  • Leaf cuttings (allow leaves to callous, then place on dry soil),
  • Offsets (“pups”) that grow around the main plant, or
  • Stem cuttings from leggy growth.

🌿 Popular Mini Echeveria Varieties

  • Echeveria ‘Lola’ – pastel pink rosette
  • Echeveria elegans (Mexican snowball) – pale blue-green
  • Echeveria ‘Perle von Nurnberg’ – purple-pink hue
  • Echeveria minima – very tiny, perfect for fairy gardens

🪴 Uses

  • Desk or windowsill decor
  • Terrariums and small planters
  • Wedding favors or gifts
  • Succulent arrangements
