🌱 Haworthia reinwardtii ‘Black’ is a striking, compact succulent—especially nice for indoor collections because it tolerates lower light better than many Echeverias.
🖤 Haworthia reinwardtii ‘Black’
☀️ Light
Give it bright, indirect light with some gentle morning sun.
Unlike an Echeveria, it doesn't need hours of intense direct sunlight. Too much harsh afternoon sun can cause brown or reddish stress coloration.
For a dark ‘Black’ form, bright light helps maintain its deeper coloration, but very dark conditions can make it turn greener and stretch.
💧 Watering
Haworthias are fairly drought tolerant.
A good rule:
Let the soil dry completely → water thoroughly → allow it to drain → wait until dry again.
During hot, humid weather, be especially careful about frequent watering. Don't leave water sitting in the saucer or trapped in the center of the plant.
🪴 Soil & pot
Use a very porous succulent mix. Something like:
60–70% pumice/perlite/grit + 30–40% good-quality succulent soil
A pot with a drainage hole is essential.
A relatively small pot is preferable because a huge pot stays wet for too long.
🌱 Propagation
One of the easiest ways is through offsets/babies that develop around the plant.
You can:
1. Carefully remove an offset with some roots attached.
2. Let any damaged area dry/callus for a day or two.
3. Plant it in dry, well-draining mix.
4. Wait a little before watering.
🌡️ Temperature
It generally prefers warm conditions with good airflow, but it doesn't appreciate prolonged extreme heat combined with wet soil.
During India's hottest/humid periods, bright shade + airflow + reduced watering is usually safer than keeping it in blazing sun.
