Graptoveria titubans ‘Blue Lotus’ is a hybrid succulent — a cross between plants from the Graptopetalum and Echeveria genera. These hybrids are known as Graptoverias, and they inherit the hardiness and pastel coloration of both parents.

🌿 Appearance

  • Rosette shape: Like many succulents, it forms neat rosettes of fleshy leaves.
  • Color: The ‘Blue Lotus’ variety is famous for its bluish-green leaves with a powdery, pastel coating (farina). In bright sun or cooler weather, the leaf tips may blush pink or lilac.
  • Size: Rosettes typically grow around 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) in diameter but can form clusters over time.
  • Flowers: It produces small yellow or orange star-shaped blooms on arching stems, usually in spring or early summer.

🌞 Light Requirements

  • Prefers bright light to full sun.
  • Indoors: Place near a south- or west-facing window.
  • Outdoors: Give it morning sun and some afternoon shade in very hot climates to prevent leaf scorch.

💧 Watering

  • Follow the “soak and dry” method: water thoroughly, then wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again.
  • Overwatering is the main cause of problems — too much water can lead to root rot.
  • Reduce watering in winter when growth slows down.

🪴 Soil & Potting

  • Use well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
  • You can improve drainage by adding perlite, pumice, or coarse sand.
  • Always ensure your pot has drainage holes.

🌡️ Temperature & Hardiness

  • Prefers warm temperatures (18–27°C / 65–80°F).
  • Can tolerate cooler temperatures down to around 5°C (40°F) but should be protected from frost.
  • Ideal for USDA zones 9–11.

🌱 Propagation

  • Very easy to propagate from leaf cuttings or offsets.
  • Simply let leaf cuttings callus for a few days, then place on top of moist, well-draining soil until roots form.

🧺 Care Tips

  • Remove dead or dried leaves from the base to prevent pests.
  • The powdery coating (farina) protects the plant from sun and water loss — avoid touching it too much.
  • Fertilize lightly in spring with a diluted succulent fertilizer.
