Graptoveria ‘Gypsy’ is a hybrid succulent from the Graptopetalum and Echeveria genera — that’s why the name “Graptoveria.”
It combines the best traits of both parents: the compact, symmetrical rosettes of Echeveria and the durability and color-changing ability of Graptopetalum.

🌿 Appearance

  • Rosettes: Rounded and symmetrical, usually 10–15 cm (4–6 in) across.
  • Leaves: Thick, fleshy, and slightly pointed at the tips.
  • Color:
    • In mild light → bluish-green with a soft powdery coating (farina).
    • In bright sun or cooler weather → shades of pink, purple, or coral appear.
    • The color shifts beautifully with temperature and sunlight.
  • Blooms: Small, star-shaped flowers — usually yellowish-white or pale orange — that appear on tall stalks in spring or early summer.

☀️ Care Requirements

Aspect

Ideal Conditions

Light

Bright, indirect sunlight or 4–6 hours of direct morning sun. Color deepens with more light.

Water

“Soak and dry” method — water thoroughly, then let soil dry out completely before watering again. Overwatering causes root rot.

Soil

Very well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Add perlite or pumice if needed.

Temperature

Prefers 18–27°C (65–80°F). Protect from frost (below ~5°C / 40°F).

Humidity

Low humidity preferred — too much moisture can cause rot.

Fertilizer

Optional — use a diluted succulent fertilizer during the growing season (spring/summer).

🌱 Propagation

  • Leaf cuttings: Gently twist off a healthy leaf, let it callous for a few days, then place on top of well-draining soil.
  • Offsets (pups): Mature plants often produce small rosettes around the base that can be separated and replanted.
  • Stem cuttings: Cut a healthy rosette, let the stem dry for a few days, then replant.

💡 Tips

  • Color fades if kept indoors without enough light — try a bright window or grow light.
  • Rotate the plant occasionally for even growth.
  • Avoid water sitting in the rosette — it can cause rot.
