Graptoveria ‘Sedum Clavatum’ (often just called Sedum clavatum) is a succulent plant from the Crassulaceae family — the same family as Echeveria and Graptopetalum.
However, there’s sometimes confusion because:

  • Sedum clavatum is actually a true Sedum species (not a hybrid).
  • Graptoveria refers to hybrids between Graptopetalum and Echeveria.

So if you’re seeing “Grapto Sedum Clavatum,” it’s probably a mix-up in labeling — the plant being described is most likely Sedum clavatum, a pure Sedum species.

🌿 Description

  • Rosette Shape: It forms compact rosettes up to about 5–10 cm (2–4 inches) wide.
  • Leaves: Plump, smooth, and chalky pale blue-green, sometimes with pinkish tips when exposed to sun or cool temperatures.
  • Growth Habit: It spreads slowly, forming clusters or trailing mats over time. Great for ground cover or hanging pots.
  • Flowers: Small, white to pale pink star-shaped blooms appear on stems in spring to early summer.

🌞 Care Requirements

Light:

  • Prefers bright light or full sun (at least 4–6 hours daily).
  • Indoors, place it near a south- or west-facing window.

Water:

  • Typical succulent rule:Soak and dry” — water deeply when soil is completely dry.
  • Avoid overwatering; it’s prone to root rot.

Soil:

  • Needs well-draining soil — a cactus/succulent mix with added pumice or perlite works best.

Temperature:

  • Hardy to about -1°C to -4°C (30°F–25°F).
  • Bring indoors if you live in a frosty area.

Fertilizer:

  • Light feeding once during the growing season (spring or summer) with a diluted succulent fertilizer.

🌱 Propagation

  • Easily propagated from leaf cuttings, stem cuttings, or offsets (pups).
  • Let cuttings callus over for a day or two before planting in soil.

🪴 Uses

  • Perfect for rock gardens, container arrangements, or living walls.
  • Works beautifully in mixed succulent pots due to its soft pastel tone and rounded rosettes.
