Echeveria ‘Raindrops’ is a rare and stunning succulent variety known for its distinctive water drop–like bumps on the leaves — a feature that gives it its charming name. It’s a hybrid species, believed to be derived from Echeveria gibbiflora, and is prized by collectors for its unusual leaf texture and color variations.
🌿 Description
· Shape: Forms a compact rosette up to 15–20 cm (6–8 inches) wide.
· Leaves: Thick, fleshy, and bluish-green with a powdery coating (farina). Mature leaves develop characteristic raised bumps (the “rain drops”) near the leaf tips.
· Color: The leaf edges often show pink to red tones, especially under bright sunlight.
· Flowers: Produces tall bloom stalks with bell-shaped, coral or pink-orange flowers in late spring or summer.
🌞 Light Requirements
· Prefers bright light or full sun for several hours daily.
· Morning sun and afternoon shade are ideal.
· Too little sunlight can cause the rosette to elongate and lose its vibrant color and bumps.
💧 Watering
· Follow the “soak and dry” method: water thoroughly when soil is completely dry.
· Overwatering can cause root rot and damage the leaf bumps.
· Water less frequently in winter when growth slows down.
🌱 Soil
· Use a well-draining succulent mix (cactus soil mixed with perlite or pumice).
· Avoid regular potting soil — it holds too much moisture.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
· Thrives in 18–27°C (65–80°F).
· Protect from frost; minimum safe temperature is about 5°C (40°F).
· Prefers low humidity environments.
