🌸 Echeveria ‘Lola’

is one of the most popular rosette-forming Echeveria cultivars, loved for its elegant, pastel appearance. It typically forms a symmetrical rosette of pale lavender, gray-green, or silvery leaves with a beautiful powdery coating.

🌿 Appearance

·         🌸 Rosette: Compact and symmetrical, often resembling a rose.

·         💜 Color: Lavender, lilac, blue-gray, and silvery tones.

·         ✨ Farina: Leaves have a natural white, powdery wax coating.

·         🌱 Size: Usually stays relatively compact, although it can become larger with age.

·         🌼 Flowers: Pinkish-orange/yellow flowers appear on tall stalks, usually in warmer growing periods.

️ Light

‘Lola’ needs lots of bright light to maintain a compact shape and good coloration.

For an Indian climate:

·         Morning sun: Excellent.

·         Bright filtered light: Good.

·         Strong afternoon summer sun: Be cautious—it can scorch the leaves.

·         Indoors, put it near your brightest window.

If the rosette starts becoming tall and the leaves spread apart, it's usually asking for more light.

💧 Watering

The biggest danger is overwatering.

Use the soak-and-dry method:

Completely dry soil → water thoroughly → drain completely → wait until completely dry again.

Don't give it small amounts of water every few days.

During hot or humid weather, reduce watering rather than increasing it if the soil isn't drying quickly.

🪴 Soil

‘Lola’ likes extremely well-draining soil.

A simple mix:

60–70% pumice/perlite/grit + 30–40% succulent soil

Use a pot with a drainage hole.

✨ Protect the powdery coating!

The white/silvery appearance is largely due to farina, a natural waxy coating.

Try not to:

·         Touch the leaves unnecessarily.

·         Rub the leaves.

·         Pour water over the rosette.

Once farina is rubbed away, it generally doesn't return on that particular damaged area.

🌱 Propagation

You can propagate ‘Lola’ through:

·         Healthy leaves

·         Offsets

·         Stem cuttings

Leaf propagation can take several weeks or months, so patience is important.
