Echeveria ‘Halloween’ is a beautiful and rare hybrid succulent, prized for its unique coloration and rosette form. It belongs to the Echeveria genus, part of the Crassulaceae family, which is.

🌿 Description

  • Shape: Forms a compact rosette shape with thick, fleshy leaves.
  • Leaves: The leaves are smooth and slightly pointed, often showing a lavender-grey, pinkish, or bluish tone.
  • Color: The name “Halloween” comes from its spooky, mysterious color shifts — under different light and stress conditions, the leaves can turn dark purple, grey, or orange-pink at the edges.
  • Size: Typically grows about 10–15 cm wide.

🌞 Light Requirements

  • Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or morning direct light.
  • When grown outdoors, ensure it gets a few hours of sunlight daily for vibrant colors.
  • Too little light causes the rosette to stretch (etiolation) and lose its compact shape.

💧 Watering

  • Follow the “soak and dry” method — water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again.
  • Overwatering can cause root rot, a common problem in succulents.

🌱 Soil

  • Needs well-draining soil — use cactus or succulent potting mix.
  • Adding perlite or pumice improves drainage and aeration.

🌡️ Temperature

  • Thrives in warm climates (18–28°C).
  • Protect from frost; if temperatures drop below 10°C, move it indoors.

🌸 Flowering

  • Produces small bell-shaped flowers, usually in shades of pink, orange, or yellow, during the growing season (spring to summer).

🪴 Propagation

  • Easily propagated from leaf cuttings or offsets (pups) that grow at the base of the main rosette.

⚠️ Care Tips

  • Avoid water sitting in the rosette center — it can lead to rot.
  • Clean dust from leaves occasionally to allow better light absorption.
  • Fertilize lightly once in spring with a diluted succulent fertilizer.
