Echeveria Grapto succulents — often known as Graptoveria — are beautiful hybrid plants that combine the best traits of Echeveria and Graptopetalum succulents. 🌿✨

🌸 Origin & Type

  • Scientific group: × Graptoveria
  • Family: Crassulaceae
  • Origin: Hybrid genus (not found naturally in the wild) created by crossing Echeveria and Graptopetalum.
  • These hybrids are known for their striking rosette shapes and varied colors that shift beautifully with sunlight and seasons.

🌿 Appearance

  • Leaves: Fleshy, plump, and often waxy or powdery (to protect from sun and dehydration).
  • Colors: Range from blue-green, lavender, pink, or peach tones, depending on the variety and light exposure.
  • Shape: Forms compact rosettes that can grow singly or in clumps.
  • Flowers: Star-shaped blooms appear on tall stalks, usually in spring or early summer, often pink, orange, or yellow.

🌞 Care Guide

☀️ Light

  • Prefers bright light to full sun.
  • Indoor plants should be placed near a sunny window (south or west-facing).
  • Outdoor plants thrive in partial to full sunlight (avoid harsh midday sun for young plants).

💧 Water

  • Use the “soak and dry” method — water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry completely before watering again.
  • Overwatering can cause root rot.

🌱 Soil

  • Needs well-draining soil (a cactus or succulent mix works best).
  • You can mix perlite or coarse sand for extra drainage.

🌡️ Temperature

  • Ideal range: 18–27°C (65–80°F).
  • Protect from frost and extreme cold.

🌸 Propagation

  • Easily propagated through leaf cuttings or offsets (baby rosettes growing at the base).
  • Allow cuttings to callous before planting.

🌈 Popular Varieties

  • Graptoveria ‘Fred Ives’ – colorful rosettes that shift from purple to orange.
  • Graptoveria ‘Debbie’ – pastel pinkish-purple tones.
  • Graptoveria ‘Opalina’ – pale, opalescent leaves with a powdery coating.
